The Design Portfolio of Michael Mullen

The Portfolio Continues Below

Welcome Hagerty

to the creative work of Michael Mullen.
From high-impact creative to perfectly spacing the last word in a magazine article, Michael brings a love of visual design and a wide skill set to every project. This is a snapshot of the projects that Michael has produced in Marketing/Corporate Communications, digital and print publications. Michael can help tell your story, from concept creation, design and illustration, to digital and traditional production. (Colored pencil/ digital Illustration of a 1934 Plymouth by Michael Mullen).

Michael created the look and feel of Ford World magazine when it changed direction and format from a monthly tabloid newspaper to a weekly magazine. In addition to creating the overall design template, Michael created over fifty covers for Ford World including developing the cover concept, writing many headlines and designing and producing final artwork. (Cover concept, photoshoot art direction and digital retouching by Michael Mullen).

As a freelance Art Director Michael offers creative solutions for marketing, advertising and editorial applications for a wide variety of businesses from large corporations to start-up media companies. (Two in a series of children’s books: creative  direction, traditional/digital illustration, design, layout and print production by Michael Mullen).

A Passion for Great Design

A graduate of Wayne State University with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts, Michael is a team player who listens, collaborates and can successfully manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.

As Graphics Director at Small Times Media in Ann Arbor, Michael had a unique opportunity to create a graphics department for a start-up media company covering micro- and nanotechnology. He was responsible for developing and maintaining the visual identity for all publications including magazines, books, directories, advertisements and marketing materials, managed a team of freelance designers, photographers and illustrators, handled the graphics budget, negotiated free-lance contracts and coordinated all print production.

As Creative Director in Ford Communication Services in Dearborn, Michael redesigned the Ford World publication, helping make it a highly successful, self-supporting employee communication tool.

Michael is passionate about both great design and classic automobiles and would love an opportunity to see how he can help tell the Hagerty story today.
